Letter to the online friend I have never met :

Hey there,

I hope this letter finds you at a good time.

I am writing this letter to thank you for being there for me by my side if not physically but virtually to hear me out, for your constant input of suggestions and for not being a judgemental stranger.

I feel blessed to have gotten a chance to know you, well all thanks to the internet and social media for that. 

 

 

When I first started talking to you, I never thought we would come this far. I know it's relatively easy to talk to strangers due to the unlimited number of topics to talk about but at the same time, it carries a risk for you could end up talking to a psychopath or a pervert for that matter. I guess I was lucky in that aspect to have found you instead.

 

 

While talking to a stranger, it usually goes like non-stop chats for few days until the getting to know each other phase is over and then they vanish because they have nothing to talk about. You see making a new friend isn't that tough but maintaining it takes efforts, from both the sides involved. And efforts take energy which sadly most of our generation isn't interested to put in. 

 

Ours, however, was a different story instead, we were too slow when we started talking. That first message thread we exchanged hardly a few texts but damn it was funny. I still laugh sometimes on reading it again. We took few minutes of our busy days to have that conversation discussing the tidbits of our days and knowing each other. I must say, it was a fun journey knowing you. Like other people, I expected the same pattern of decreasing number of conversation and eventually none at all once there was nothing interesting left to talk. But to my surprise that didn't happen and I had a sense of relief that I found a friend who will stay and you did. 

 

We have shared the stupidest of the jokes, made fun of I don't know how many things and have had multiple laughter bouts. We have had our share of the serious conversations about life, thanks to the brutally honest midnight conversations. The level of comfort that I share while talking to you is beyond my understanding as well, I don't know how it happened but I am glad it did.

 

 

Its surprising that we haven't met as of yet, thanks to the huge geographical distance that separates us but I cannot wait to meet you. Until that happens, it gives me a sense of relief to know I have you by my side supporting me and helping me. Cheers to our friendship!
